Silkworm - C64 Game CheatsGame Review & Description"Silkworm" on the Commodore 64 is what happens when your breadbox absorbs too much sugar and decides to go on a hyperactive rampage. It's a side-scrolling shoot-'em-up that grabs you by the joystick and refuses to let go, offering a relentless barrage of enemies, bullets, and everything else that makes life worth living for a digital helicopter or jeep. Yes, you heard that right. In "Silkworm," players get to choose between piloting a helicopter or driving a jeep, each with its own unique play style and existential crisis about traffic violations in a warzone. Graphically, "Silkworm" is a feast for the eyes, showcasing the Commodore 64's ability to render chaos with a certain pixelated charm. The environments you'll blast your way through are detailed enough to make you feel like you're there, and varied enough to keep you guessing what's coming next. The sprites for both the helicopter and jeep, as well as the myriad of enemies you'll encounter, are well designed, giving a clear and present danger to dodge, destroy, or occasionally scream at in panic. The soundtrack and sound effects are the icing on this explosive cake, providing an auditory backdrop that perfectly complements the on-screen action. From the satisfying boom of your arsenal's heavier ordinance to the almost musical explosions of your adversaries, "Silkworm" sounds as good as it plays. Gameplay is where "Silkworm" truly shines. Whether you're in the air or on the ground, the game offers a non-stop adrenaline rush. The helicopter offers greater mobility, allowing you to dodge incoming fire with grace, while the jeep brings the firepower, challenging you to blast your way through obstacles and enemies alike. And let's not forget the co-op mode, which allows a friend to join in on the fun, leading to both cooperative bliss and the occasional blame for getting the other person killed. "Silkworm" is a gem in the Commodore 64's crown, offering fast-paced gameplay, challenging mechanics, and the kind of cooperative play that's as rare as it is appreciated. So grab a friend, decide between air or land, and get ready for a game that's as rewarding as it is relentless. Remember, in "Silkworm," the only way to survive is to keep moving, keep shooting, and never, ever look back. Silkworm C64 Tips and TricksFor those brave souls ready to take to the skies or the ground in "Silkworm," here are a few tips to help you on your way:
Eliminate All Enemies (AR)After loading the game, hit the left button on your Action Replay (or similar) reset cartridge and select "E" from the menu. Then, enter POKE 32203,173 to abolish all enemies (apart from the end-of-level bosses) from the game. Doesn't make it fun in a shoot 'em up sense, but it's a great way to support your progression through the trickier sections of the game, or top map out what lies ahead. Hit Return and F3 to return to the game. <-- More Commodore 64 Cheats and Tips | |
